Yesterday was a wonderful day.  We had a wedding to go to.  Tenille and Eric were tying the knot.  Their family didn’t know.  They went with the idea that they were going to the engagement party.  They were told to go to the restaurant and after turning up there they were given a map to the beach where the wedding was held.  After the wedding everyone went back to the restaurant and had some drinks and nibbles.  It was a great day.

We went to the ‘Barn Market’ in Bellerive today.  It is the first one.  We got there as it was starting and there were people everywhere.  There was a lot of arts and crafts stuff there, a BBQ and a few different buskers (one group playing rock songs, one violin group and one solo guitar player). Abbie learnt how to climb today.  She was staying at Grandma’s for the day and climbed up on her couch.  Wendy has a 14 minute video after that of Abbie climbing on and off the couch.  Of course she had some falls but as always she didn’t care and I have a feeling the fun outweighed the falls anyway.  I think we did the right thing not fussing over her when she has a tumble.  We only worry about it if she cries.

Silvie is still sick.  I don’t know if I can say that her leg is getting any better or if I am just wishing to to be.  I think there will be a vet trip in her future and yet another bill on my credit card.  I thought chooks would be vet free, low maintenance animals but it appears that I may have been mistaken.  Less than 3 months into this adventure and we are in need of some professional help.  At least I have the help of my friends at Backyard Poultry Forum.  Many very knowledgeable and helpful people there.

Yesterday we did the first treatment on the chook’s leg.  Silvie was a perfect patient.  It must have hurt but she didn’t complain.  It doesn’t appear to be staf like a vet friend of mine thought it was but it is still a nasty infection.  Hopefully we can fix her.

Yesterday was a fairly mundane day.  Didn’t do much and just seemed to veg on the couch in front of the computer most of the day.

I did find that one of my chooks has a nasty infection on her leg.  It’s going to need treatment with peroxide to get rid of it.  Now I have to find a chemist that sells it.  Hopefully it goes away, Silvie is very a pretty chook.  When I went to check on her today I noticed that the door to their coop had swollen in the rain last night and was very near impossible to open.  I need to replace that door I think.

What am I doing?

I am starting my very first blog.  Something I never thought I would do.  I have never been at all interested in letting everyone know the in’s and out’s of my life but after having a conversation with my wife the other night I feel it might be a good idea.
